On April 11^th, 2012, gnovis held its first conference titled “Academedia” at Georgetown University. The goal of this gathering of minds was to discuss how new media practices are shaping research and learning, as well as to leave attendees with some practical hints about how they can better integrate new media practices within their lives and intellectual pursuits.

The conference hosted keynote speaker Don Knezek, Chief Executive Officer for the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), followed by three outstanding panels and then two student presenters during the lunch. • The four C’s of new media change in research and learning: communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity.
• “New media in learning and research is not just about achieving but also about engagement” – Eric Goldstein, Executive Director and founder, One World Education.
• The product market has outpaced the absorption capacity and development of research and learning goals in academic institutions. How can we rectify this?
